Hard Copy — Documentary series
Thomson Reuters Foundation
The team was producing a short documentary piece called Hard Copy, which explored the environmental impact of cloud computing and data centres in the world. The story tackled a complex topic: the tension between increasing demand for digital services and national decarbonisation goals.
I was responsible for creating the project's visual identity and motion graphics system. I started by analysing the editorial narrative and identifying key concepts that would need visual explanation. Throughout production, I focused on making abstract digital processes tangible and understandable for a general audience.
The final piece delivered a cohesive visual experience that helped audiences understand a technically complex and politically relevant issue. The graphics system streamlined production, ensured consistency across the programme, and enabled the story to communicate data, scale, and environmental impact in a way that was both accessible and engaging.
